Devki Group is undertaking a major industrial investment in Ngaaie, Mwingi North, Kitui County, through the development of a KSh 70 billion cement and clinker manufacturing plant. The project marks a significant milestone in the Group’s continued expansion of Kenya’s manufacturing capacity and commitment to supporting regional economic development.
The new facility will establish the first cement manufacturing plant in Kitui County, positioning the region as an emerging centre for industrial activity. It will also harness the area’s substantial limestone deposits, converting locally available mineral resources into valuable industrial products.
The investment is expected to generate approximately 4,000 jobs during the construction phase, creating employment opportunities for local residents and Kenyans from different parts of the country. With local communities forming an important part of the project’s workforce, the development will provide opportunities for skills development, knowledge transfer and increased household incomes.
Beyond direct employment, the project is expected to stimulate business opportunities for local suppliers, transport operators, contractors and other enterprises that will support the plant’s operations. Increased economic activity is also anticipated to benefit surrounding communities through demand for goods and services.
The Ngaaie plant is part of Devki Group’s broader commitment to strengthening Kenya’s industrial sector through investments in local manufacturing. By developing production capacity closer to the source of raw materials, the Group continues to support the utilisation of domestic resources, strengthen local value chains and contribute to the growth of the country’s manufacturing industry.
Through this KSh 70 billion investment, Devki Group is reinforcing its commitment to industrial development, employment creation and the growth of local economies, while contributing to the expansion of Kenya’s cement and clinker manufacturing capacity.
